Welcome to Glenside Middle School
Welcome to Glenside Middle School! Glenside serves approximately 600 students of various diverse backgrounds. The staff at Glenside is committed to providing and serving our students with high quality education and researched-based curriculum. We strive to incorporate interdisciplinary units and problem-based learning in our instruction to engage students in purposeful learning. Additionally, students are provided with targeted academic support to meet their needs and the opportunity to explore and pursue their interests during Raider Hour.
Glenside also provides activities that are offered outside of the classrooms. Our extracurricular activities include team sports and after school clubs. Our clubs encourage character building as well as community service. Glenside has recently celebrated several accomplishments. Our bands and choir programs have received high ratings at state competitions and have won state several times. The wrestling team has become a state championship team by producing a state champion and a state runner-up in 2017-2018 school year. Last, but not least, the 8th grade boys’ basketball team captured the DMVA conference championship for the first time when Glenside changed conferences.
Lastly, Glenside prides itself with it partnership with the Village of Glendale Heights, Glenside Public Library, and the parent community. The GMS Parent Teacher Organization though, it is in its beginning stages, remains to be quite the presence at the school. Glenside is fortunate to have such a supportive parent organization. Also, Glenside has been an active member of the Character Counts Coalition from the very beginning. One of the focus of the coalition is recognizing citizens who display and or live the Pillars of Character Counts. Last but not least, Glenside continues to work in partnership with the Glenside Public Library. The support they provide is aligned to the goals that are laid out by the school as well as the district.
